Location & Transportation

From Sydney, Wollongong is approximately a one hour drive south of Sydney Airport or 1.5 hours by train. Transport options include:

  • An airport transfer minibus shuttle service is provided by Leisure Coast Limousine Service. The cost from Sydney Airport to any address in Wollongong is $75 (as quoted on their website as at February 2020).
  • Rental cars are available from Sydney Airport.
  • By train: Train stations are located at Sydney Airport’s Domestic and International Terminals. Catch the train from Sydney Airport to Wolli Creek train station (approximately 5 mins from the Domestic terminal and 3 mins from the International terminal). Change trains at Wolli Creek train station to catch a train on the South Coast Line. Alight at either North Wollongong train station (1km walk to the Snake Pit) or Wollongong train station (1.5km). For your trip to Wollongong make sure you set the direction of travel on the South Coast Line timetable as ‘Bondi Junction and Central to Bomaderry or Port Kembla’. There is a FREE Shuttle bus service that runs in a loop around Wollongong, with stops close to the Wollongong train station (Stop #15 on the shuttle bus map), the SnakePit (Stop #18) and to various accommodations (e.g., Stops #8, #9. #10 among others) in the city. 

From Brisbane and Melbourne: An alternative option is to fly direct from Brisbane or Melbourne to Shellharbour Airport with Fly Corporate. From there it's a 1km walk to Albion Park Station.
